Care for Creation

Welcome To Emmaus House

We are a Retreat and Conference Centre offering professional training and human development. A non-residential spirituality centre offering an integrated approach to the development of each person. Spirituality within a tranquil environment is our key value, underpinning all others; we extend a warm welcome in a friendly, atmosphere, set in Whitchurch on the southern edge of the city of Bristol.  Open to all, we hope you will feel at home, for there is a harmony within the house that is conducive to  retreats, workshops and a wide range of everyday courses.  Informal, yet professional, Emmaus House provides good teaching spaces in which to maximize the learning process and to develop the whole person.

Why we are here:

Open to all, we hope you will feel home, for there is a harmony within the house which is conductive to a wide range of everyday courses, as well as a place for those seeking time and space to pause and reflect.

Informal, yet professional, Emmaus house provides a good place in which to maximise the learning process and to develop the whole person in the current context of integral creation.

Whilst we are ourselves of the Catholic/Christian tradition, we welcome people of all faiths or none.

We are part of the community of La Retraite, which was formed in 1674 with the aim of giving retreats to women. Over time education became an important focus. In recent years communities have become increasingly involved in a variety of ways to be with people on their spiritual journey.

We hope very much to have the opportunity of welcoming you to this special place in the future.

Meet the Team:

Ann O’Sullivan brought the MBTI® into the UK in 1980 and has been facilitating the learning of this instrument over the past 30 years, bringing to it a wealth of understanding and practical use.

Michael Healy was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Clifton in 1971. His interest in the Enneagram was awakened around the early eighties when he sensed the value and significance of being led to discover for oneself the spiritual path best suited to each particular type. In this regard the Enneagram has so much to offer, for through it each of us can discern their appropriate path. Complex it certainly is, and as a result will reward careful inner attention.
